You might have heard that the unit at West Berkshire Community Hospital’s new Greenham Trust Wing is now open and fully equipped to treat dialysis patients. Since the launch, we are thrilled to announce that Peggy, the much loved dialysis patient was the first person to be treated.
Before the centre was open, Peggy was forced to endure a three hour round trip to receive treatment, often travelling three times a week!
Now Peggy, and other dialysis patients, are able to access the required facilities right on their doorsteps.
The unit is currently open three days a week, which will be increased to six as of October. By this point there will be facilities for as many as 20 patients a day to receive dialysis!
Peggy would like to pass on her thanks to everyone who had donated to the £5.1 million Rosemary Appeal to make the new cancer and renal facility a reality. There is no doubt that the new centre will make a massive difference to people’s lives, and Peggy is living proof of this!
We can’t thank the local community enough for their kind donations to the appeal. Thanks to your support, we have now raised 95 per cent of the money required to build the cancer and renal units.
Meanwhile, if you would like to donate to, we urge you to donate through The Good Exchange, where donations will be match funded!
