Father's day at The Rowbarge
On Sunday 17June (Father’s Day), Debbie and her best friend Ben, will be hosting an event at The Rowbarge in Woolhampton. Come along from 11am to 6pm, it will be a live music event with a raffle and food.
A little bit about Debbie and Ben:
"Born 24 days apart, me and Ben have lived 10 doors apart our whole lives, and have been best friends, in the same class from reception, right up until sixth form. Our families have always been incredibly close, our mums worked together for many years and we all spend a lot of time together. In July 2014 my dad, Dave, was diagnosed with lung cancer and lost his fight just four months later. In October 2016, Ben called me with the devastating news that his dad, Kevin, had also been diagnosed with the same thing. Kev fought a very brave battle but unfortunately passed away in June 2017. Through both of these horrendously difficult and brave fights, your charity helped our families.
Our fathers had many shared passions including cooking, especially BBQ’s, gigs and spending time with their families. So we think music, booze, food and family is the perfect way to celebrate Dave and Kev’s lives.
Our families have found tremendous comfort in each other, but we would not do something for our dad’s without acknowledging the support and help we had from the Rosemary Appeal.
We would like to donate all the money we raise from the day to yourselves , if you’d let us"
With this in mind, we'd love it if as many of you as possible would join Ben and Debbie in celebrating the lives of their Father's whilst raising money for the appeal. This is just one of example of a story which highlights how fundamental the new centre at West Berkshire hospital is to the local community.
